Pearson Launches First iPhone/iPad Applications for Home & Office Computer Users and IT Professionals

Posted on February 09, 2010 by editor

Pearson Education releases its first iPhone(R)/iPad Reader Apps for the home and office and technical and professional communities. The apps, which are available as single or multi-book libraries, are a new learning format for Pearson and complement the suite of product types already available, such as traditional print books, online reference libraries, e-books, video, simulation and more.

The first App to launch, The iPhone Developer’s Library, combines three #1 best selling books on Mac programming and iPhone app development. The Pearson reader App contains standard eBook features such as easy navigation, search, highlighting, and hyperlinking; along with features specifically designed to benefit the technical audience such as scrolling vertically and horizontally through long program code listings using the “Code View” feature and the ability to access and reuse program code through the email feature.

In addition to the fully-populated iPhone Developer’s Library App , Pearson also offers free reader Apps that contain one sample chapter from various best-selling Pearson books, and allow customers to purchase the remaining chapters through a convenient “in-app purchase” feature. And for those IT professionals interested in pursuing certifications there are a growing list of Apps to come from Pearson, in areas such as CCNA(R), CompTIA(R) and more.

News Facts:

– Apps run on the iPhone OS 3.0, iPod touch models, as well as the new Apple iPad.

– Pearson Apps are now available through the iTunes Store(R) at http://www.itunes.com.

– Readers can download Apps for free and sample featured chapters to see how the reader performs. If they like what they see, they can use the convenient in-app purchase option to unlock the entire application. Customers navigate the Table of Contents: black chapter listings are unlocked for FREE and red chapter listings are locked and available after purchasing the application.

- More than 15 reader apps available now. To learn about the other applications coming soon from Pearson, visit: http://www.informit.com/iphoneapp.
